How to use strings in your DIY recording project (feat. Megyn Neff)

My amazing pro violinist friend Megyn Neff just finished up opening for the equally amazing Andrew Bird here in Phoenix last month!

I was able to sit down with her and do a little interview series, focusing on how to best use string players in your DIY recording project.

There’s a lot of variables to consider:

Is writing out parts necessary?

How do I find the best players to work with?

Do I need a full string ensemble, or just a solo player?

Here's the first of a few videos on this subject. Strings have been having a bit of a moment in the indie scene for about the last ten years, but they're a little tricky to get just right in the studio. I hope this series helps fix that!
